The students of the European section at the Bressis high school went to Geneva for an intense day of cultural and international experiences.
Accompanied by their teachers, they visited the Ethnography Museum of Geneva (MEG) and attended a briefing at the United Nations Agency for Refugees (UNHCR).
The teaching team aimed to raise their awareness of the importance of respecting different cultures, human rights, particularly those of refugees, and the remarkable work done by the United Nations agencies. We strive to develop their curiosity, tolerance, and critical thinking, so they become informed and responsible European citizens.
To build a better world, it is essential to involve our youth.
At the UNHCR, the students were welcomed by Madeleine Sautelle and had the opportunity to discuss the history of the UNHCR, its mission, and the people the agency protects. They also met Salomé Bertin, a young woman from Annecy with an international background who currently works at UNCTAD (United Nations Conference on Trade and Development). This is a permanent intergovernmental organization established in 1964 by the United Nations to help developing countries access global trade.
The students in the European section are committed to international openness. This year, thirteen students are going on a 4-week internship in Ireland and Spain. They are financially supported by the ERASMUS+ agency, CERA PRO, AFT Netinvet, the City of Annecy, and the Auvergne Rhône Alpes Region. We are very proud of them!

Les élèves de section européenne du lycée des Bressis se sont rendus à Genève pour vivre une journée culturelle et internationale intense.
Accompagnés par leurs enseignants, ils ont visité le Musée d’Ethnographie de Genève (MEG) et ont assisté à un briefing à l’Agence des Nations Unies pour les Réfugiés (UN HCR).
L’équipe pédagogique souhaitait les sensibiliser à l’importance du respect des différentes cultures, des droits humains, notamment ceux des réfugiés, et au travail formidable accompli par les agences des Nations Unies. Nous essayons de développer leur curiosité, leur tolérance et leur esprit critique, afin qu’ils deviennent des citoyens européens éclairés et responsables.
Pour construire un monde meilleur, il est essentiel d’impliquer notre jeunesse.
Au HCR , les élèves ont été accueillis par Madeleine Sautelle et ont pu échanger sur l’histoire du HCR, sa mission et les personnes que l’agence protège. Ils ont aussi pu rencontrer Salomé Bertin, une jeune annécienne au cursus international qui travaille actuellement à la CNUCED (ONU Commerce et Développement). Il s’agit d’une organisation intergouvernementale permanente créée en 1964 par les Nations Unies pour aider les pays en développement à accéder au commerce mondial.
Les élèves de section européenne sont investis dans l’ouverture internationale. Cette année, treize élèves partent effectuer un stage de 4 semaines en Irlande et en Espagne. Ils sont soutenus financièrement par l’agence ERASMUS+, CERA PRO, AFT Netinvet, la Mairie d’Annecy et la Région Auvergne Rhône Alpes. Nous sommes très fiers d’eux!
